When Paola was a child, she started casting her first pieces in her family’s foundry in Santiago, Chile. This is the oldest foundry in the country, nowadays she’s in charge. There she learned the ancient techniques of casting and sand casting, techniques that were essential for her development as a sculptress. Little by little, melting iron, aluminium, wood, coal and oil, Paola discovered many ways in which she could integrate these elements and casting techniques. Along her constant search for more, Paola managed to combine and integrate metals with wood, roots and rocks, elements that she collects from the north to the south of Chile.
Her art is impregnated with the purity of the elements she uses, and the power of fire. Each piece exhales the potency with which was created.
